1st NCSD meeting 31Aug2016 2The first meeting of the National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD) was held at the Ministry of Environment on 31 August 2016 under chairmanship of H.E. Say Samal, Minister of Environment and NCSD chairman. This meeting brought together for the first time senior government representatives at the central and provincial to review and decide on a wide range of agenda items such as: NCSD logo, structure and subsidiary bodies, rules and procedures, priority strategic programmes, as well as to hear the updates on the National Environmental Strategy and Action Plan (NESAP) and the Environmental Code.

Cambodia’s National Climate Change Monitoring and Evaluation Framework is now being rolled out

Last April 7, the General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (GSSD) has unveiled Cambodia’s National Climate Change Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework. The framework is designed to enable the country to track progress made in theimplementation of its climate response strategy, and to help understand whether investments being made in climate change adaptation andmitigation interventions are indeed contributing to increasing the country’s resilience and to lowering the carbon intensity of its economy.

Cambodia’s climate change M&E framework is the result of many years of work. Since 2013, the Department of Climate Change (DCC) of GSSD has been working closely with the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and numerous stakeholders to develop and test the national M&E framework and its indicators. GIGWindow3 01Aug2016Phnom Penh, 01st August 2016 – The Department of Climate Change (DCC), General Secretariat​​ of the National Council for Sustainable Development (GSSD) with support from Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA) programme organized a training workshop on “Grant Implementation Guidelines” to 8 national institutions and Non-Governmental Organizations which successfully obtained grants from CCCA for implementation of climate change research and innovation projects and to projects with approved climate change action plans with a total of 41 participants (16 are female).

MPWT workshop on CBA 28 29 Jul 2016Phnom Penh, 28-29 July 2016: General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (GSSD) in cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology (MoWRAM) and the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) with support of Cambodia Climate Change Alliance (CCCA) organized individual workshops to present the result of work done to improve integration of climate change in the investment programmes and budget submissions of the ministries of water resources and meteorology, and public works and transport.

A study on “Promoting private sector contribution to the climate change response in Cambodia” has been conducted at the request of the Department of Climate Change (DCC), General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (GSSD) with support from the Cambodia Climate Change Alliance programme (CCCA).
