Last December, 195 countries, including Cambodia, gathered in Paris to negotiate a new global climate agreement under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). The result – the first-ever universal, legally binding global climate deal – sets out a global action plan to put the world on track to avoid dangerous climate change by limiting global warming to well below 2 degrees Celsius. To further underline their determination countries also agreed to pursue efforts to limit temperature increase to 1.5 degrees.

Cambodia’s National Climate Change Monitoring and Evaluation Framework is now being rolled out

Last April 7, the General Secretariat of the National Council for Sustainable Development (GSSD) has unveiled Cambodia’s National Climate Change Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework. The framework is designed to enable the country to track progress made in theimplementation of its climate response strategy, and to help understand whether investments being made in climate change adaptation andmitigation interventions are indeed contributing to increasing the country’s resilience and to lowering the carbon intensity of its economy.
